The Fashion Influencer Panel
It's no secret that Cleveland, Ohio's fashion industry is small and segregated and when it comes to Black creatives, voices and influencers it feels like we are ignored or silenced... So I was super pumped and pleased when I heard of the The Fashion Influencer Panel hosted by panelist Nia Allen of Fashion.Style. List. I was aware of most of the panelists and was excited to hear what they all had to say.
I was not disappointed. The panelists included style influencer @1Bianca (we attended fashion school together!) @dressedforthegods (whom I interviewed here) @shopmarauders, a dope lifestyle brand, and style curator @fashion.style.list . They openly discussed their paths, challenges, journeys, style influences and gave advice and answered questions from a captivated audience of well dressed fashion professionals and style lovers.
It was so refreshing to hear from industry peers, to hear their personal stories, fails and triumphs and honestly, just to network and be present. I had a great time and can't wait for the next event!
Savoir-Faire Magazine 20th Anniversary "216 Show"
I was invited to blog at the Savoir-Faire Magazine's 20th Anniversary 216 Show at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on November 18th, by executive producer Daphne Grier. The event was upscale, elegant and classy flush with Cleveland movers, shakers and taste-makers!
Guests arrived to walk the red carpet and got their photo taken by paparazzi while hometown celebs Joe Little, Big Heff and Rhonda Crowder walked about. Dressed to impress you could tell it was an upscale affair simply by looking at the after five attire guests were adorned in, there was enough glitter, sequins and floor length fabric to fill a runway and everybody looked amazing! There was a VIP Cocktail reception and dancing on the main floor of the lobby.
The private event allowed guests a chance to explore the museum while waiting to see the talent show. Before the show we were ushered into the auditorium to watch the "Power of Rock Experience" video (everybody cheered when we saw Prince rockin out) and got everybody hyped to see our own talented performers.
Talent came from all over Cleveland, Columbus, North Carolina and other places to show us what they were working with and I felt like I was at the Apollo theater while watching the concert! I had to leave early but was able to take a few photos and videos before I did...
The Flavor of Cleveland Hair/Fashion Show/Networking Event
I came home from the Savoir-Faire event and removed my boots, makeup and wig and proceeded to prep for The Flavor of Cleveland Hair/Fashion Show/Networking Event held the very next day, Sunday, November 19th, produced by LLeauh Webb of the @HTZ_styling team. I went to bed tired but woke up re-energized and excited to get the show started.
I was to style two scenes: denim and prints and patterns. I was able to style most of my models through text and email prior to the show, but a lot of them I had to style right before the show started. I had models of all shapes and sizes ranging from kids to adults and each one brought it!
I was really happy to participate and look forward to being involved in more shows and producing some of my own next year and will keep you all posted.
