What happens when a fashion stylist and a runway model team up for a model call and style workshop? A whole lot of fun, fashion and style, that's what! Last month I hosted my first model call and style workshop in Fairport Harbor, Ohio at the Diamond Bistro in preparation for the upcoming Be-Youtiful Style Show on July 29th. It was a really cool event and even though the turnout was small, there was such a large buzz surrounding it that we will host another one right before the show. Read on for a recap of the day...
I arrived atthe Diamond Bistro- a quaint little cafe situated in a small beachfront town that hosts open mic night, talent shows, fundraisers and other community events- with Angela L, my fabulous runway model, ready to teach these young ladies everything they needed to know about the upcoming show, how to walk the runway and how to pose for photos.
I spoke about several types of modeling including runway, print, commercial and high fashion and gave the girls examples of each, we discussed off duty model style, how to explore and develop their personal styles and where to shop without breaking the bank and then went right into the fun part of walking!
None of the girls had modeled before, but after we turned on the music, had Angela demonstrate and let the gave them a few tips, they were pros on the runway and full of confidence! One by one they walked, we recorded them, let them watch and gave them a few pointers and then repeated until they felt comfortable. And then it was time for the photo shoot where the girls straight up shined!
I had brought a big bag full of selfie props that included hats, sunglasses and masks that the girls could play with while posing at the selfie station that was set up for them. I posed them according to their body type and then I let them choose a pose that felt good to them and the results were beautiful! The ladies were all serving fashion, style and poise in their own individual way and it was so much fun to watch! Special thanks to Mary Hunt and Raeann Nelson of the Diamond Bistro for having us and my fabulous model Angela for assisting me. I am definitely looking forward to our show on July 29th!

We don't need to degrade ourselves just because we think we don't deserve to be in a position where we are right now. We are there for a certain purpose. Being a fashion stylist has became a huge challenge for you. I know for a fact that you worked hard just to be there, and I couldn't be happier for you knowing that you are getting all of these because you worked hard. I am so happy for you! Rock that runway, girl! You will always have my support.
