What do you do when you are a year into your natural hair journey and absolutely no product on the market is to your standards? If your name is Rachel Wilson, you put your baking and cooking skills to the test and whip up some homemade products for yourself. Which she did, and that's how Simply Made Basics was born. Officially launched in September 2017, Simply Made Basics creates "products that are simply hand-made with basic, essential ingredients that enhance, moisturize and protect the skin and hair". There is a full line of products ranging from whipped Shea butter, hair butter, foot creams and salts, to lip balm, beard balm and a variety of gift sets. Inspired by a family of self starters and business owners, friends, nature and most importantly, herself- Wilson- a Cleveland native- is super focused on making her business work. In addition to launching her website this year after many false starts, she counts not giving up as her biggest triumph so far. "I’ve started and stopped many things in the past, but sticking with this for this long, is very much a personal accomplishment for me." Consistency may be hard for this self described daydreaming Pisces, and having the extra time and energy to work on her brand is an exhausting challenge after working her 9-5, but Wilson is determined to stay the course. Willing to sacrifice to make Simply Made Basics a reality, I can tell she is in this for the long run as she stands 100% behind her product by promising not to sell anything she won't personally use just to make a dollar- which sets Simply Made Basics apart from other brands. Listen, I tested the whole line of complimentary samples given to me and I fell in love with the smell, texture and the consistency of all the products. I used the lavender scented bath salts while taking the most luxurious bath the other day and then followed up with the body butter and foot cream that literally glided and melted into my skin leaving me feeling well moisturized and smelling good!

I haven’t tried any product made by “Simply Made Basics”. Actually, this is the very first time I’ve heard about their products and it felt exciting when you said that the products you’ve used worked on you! Aside from the affordable price, the fact that they have wide verity of skin care products sounds appealing to me. I am planning to search for their website and buy some products they will be selling, especially those I can use with my body. I ma currently in search of a perfect lotion.
