Ladies get ready to clutch your pearls (and your credit cards)! Now that everybody and their mama owns a pair of "red bottoms" aka Christian Louboutin shoes, the designer has added beauty to his repertoire. Last year he debuted a signature line of nail polish and this fall will launch a lipstick collection. Obviously anything associated with Louboutin will have a certain glamour attached and this lip color collection is no exception! The luxurious design of the bullet alone is a work of art and the packaging has been described as looking like "Mermaid tails dipped in precious metal and then capped off with headgear stolen from the Crown Jewels.."
The line features 36 shades in 3 different textures; Silky Satin, Velvet Matte, and Sheer Voile, all inspired by Louboutin's bags and shoes. Each collection has a Signature Rouge in a black lacquer case that stands out from the liquid gold ones. Inspiration for the overall feel of the collection came far and wide with everything from Middle Eastern antiquities, Art Deco and Babylonian architecture being a major influence. Not just used to color in your lips, the containers also doubles as a high fashion statement necklace with a thin gold ribbon attached to the cap, which kinda maybe justifies the $90 price tag... And if that doesn't help you come to terms with this beauty "investment", then maybe this quote from Mr. Louboutin himself will... "After the eyes, lips represent the most expressive element of the face. And there’s the fetish appeal, because lipstick can transform a face from intense to naive or even dangerous. When a woman carries a handbag, we look at her shoulders. When she slips on a pair of heels, we observe her walk. If she applies lacquer to her nails, we admire her hands. With its slow, circular application, lip makeup becomes a rich and sensual gesture." *Fans face* The collection will be available at Saks in September...
