It's vacation season and who wants to spend precious time worrying about what to pack? I can't tell you how many times I've over packed a suitcase with almost no room for extra shopping (almost cause where there is a will, there is a way lol), but nothing is worse than bringing a suitcase full of random mismatch items, forgetting your favorite sandals, or accidentally packing a bathing suit that fit you two seasons ago. To keep any of those unfortunate scenarios from happening, I came up with a quick list of clothing items to bring on vacation.

I'm in Cleveland, Ohio, and the weather here is so weird- one day it's hot AF and I'm sweating from underneath my wig and the very next day (or even later that night) I'm cold as hell, layering hoodies and lightweight jackets and protecting my knees from overexposure to the wind. Not to mention the rain!
It comes and goes like a mood swing when I'm on my cycle and makes it harder to get dressed when it's time to look cute but remain dry, so I went ahead and created a roundup of weather appropriate rain gear that can get you through this part of the season with style...

Shapewear can be so confusing! Which is why I called on Samantha (Sam) Walker, my homegirl in fashion, fellow blogger, runway queen and fashion show host to ask if she could write a guest blog post to help break down shapewear for us curvy girls. As a plus size model that is always on the go, constantly photographed and spotted at a variety of events around Cleveland, Sam is definitely a shapewear expert, so read on to see what she has to say... I have a confession. I am a former shopaholic, an online fashion stylist and I work for an online styling app- but I refuse to shop online! First of all, I'm a big girl who needs to try things on to see how fabrics stretch, feel and smell IN PERSON! Second of all, I'm impatient AF- if I give you money, I want my goods or services placed right in front of me immediately (main reason I stopped my magazine subscriptions too haha) and last but not least- I have been BURNED before by receiving the wrong item, or something else off that made me say #neveragain.
But then I "met" Columbus, Ohio fashion designer, creator and blogger Nia Grain (@niagrain) on Instagram and she agreed to write a guest post with valuable tips on how to help your online shopping experience run smoothly and now I'm feeling safe enough to try to score a piece or two online- maybe...

I love to read and have been reading since I was potty trained. I grew up at a time of Scholastic book fairs and I started off reading the same books girls my age were reading- The BabySitter's Club, Sweet Valley High, Judy Blume and even some Nancy Drew... But at some point around the age of nine or ten, two things happened- I somehow discovered "Pimp" by Iceberg Slim and I snuck and read my mother's copy of "Waiting to Exhale" by Terri McMillan. I wanted to read the Terri McMillan because the cover art featured the abstract black faces with vibrant geometric shapes for clothes and hats. I still don't remember who introduced me to Iceberg, but I spent a lot of time in libraries when I was in elementary so who knows- I probably discovered it myself. ![]()
Wide Calf Boots
*This post includes affiliate links Boots are vital to your wardrobe for a number of reasons: they will go with everything, bring warm weather outfits into the fall and winter, and they add a certain panache to every look that you pair them with. But it is no secret that it's hard to find a pair of tall boots that will fit over a curvy girl's calf muscles. No worries because I found tons of colors and styles, but I do have a few tips to keep in mind when purchasing wide calf boots online... |
