*Actress Melissa McCarthy dropped photos of her new collection, Melissa McCathy Seven7 to Vogue and it looks good to me! The line has trendy separates with cute printed pants and tunics that are extremely wearable with pieces for under $150 for sizes 4-26. McCarthy also made sure to include design features she likes with a particular emphasis on sleeves and pockets:
"I have friends who are size 26 and size 8 and they want a sleeve!" the comedienne told peoplestylewatch.com this June. "My stuff has sleeves, my stuff has pockets, you can count on that.” McCarthy will introduce her new designs on HSN on August 13, and her collection launches September 1st. The clothes are really cute and stylish, but like with most plus size designers- I can't afford NOTHIN lol! My only hope is that she collaborates with Target one day and I catch some stuff on sale haaa! Read the full story on Vogue.com. *PETA ain't playing games! The animal rights organization has been coming for French based design house Hermès for a while now and wants the company to ban the use of alligator and croc skins for production of their luxury goods. So how are they going about doing that? The first thing they did was show a video of horrifyingly cruel crocodile slaughter to the muse of their popular high priced Birken bag- Jane Birkin (whom they named the bag for in the eighties). The video was so disturbing that long time fashion icon Birkin denounced the bag that same week. The second, most powerful blow came when the organization decided to buy shares in Hermes stock in order to gain access to shareholder meetings and persuade the ban from the inside out. Read more an the bold move here. Tough stuff! *Welp! The whispers and rumors were true- fashion house Balenciaga and young designer Alexander Wang have mutually departed ways. Creative director at the French fashion house for only two and half years, there has been no official reason for the split announced- but it's being speculated that Wang's leaving has less to do with his performance, and more to do with him wanting to grow his namesake fashion label. You can read more about this story here. I love Wang's designs for his own label, but honestly, nothing he did for any of the Balenciaga collections he designed stood out to me. *Super model Cindy Crawford is set to help NBC develop a drama series called "Icon", loosely based on the 80's modeling wars between Ford Modeling Agency and Elite Model Management. The fictionalized show will not be based on Crawford's life, or even feature Crawford as a character- but she will add a certain authenticity to the show and I can't wait to for the juicy episodes to air! Variety has more info here.
