Early last month I was asked to participate in a community hair show given by a local stylist named Mz Pat who has a salon not too far from my apartment. I pass her shop everyday and we had spoken briefly about what I do and other business related things. She told me about her show and asked if I wanted to have a fashion segment in it and of course I was like HELL YEAH!

My homegirl Essence asked me to help with the costumes for her short horror film that she entered into the 48Hr Film Project back in October and it was so much fun, I got to make fake blood and everything! I basically sent out a list of suggested outfits for the actors based on the script and the actions and using their own wardrobe, pieced the looks together. It was so live being on set and watching how things are made including how to manipulate light and how shots set up from various angles can make something look totally different. Here are a few pics and behind the scenes videos and the film itself. Check it out below!
![]() Fake Blood recipe for those with no money: * 3 Tubes of Halloween costume blood (you can stop here if you want, but it looks thin and dries up pinkish) *Chocolate sauce (I did not measure, I just poured, until the blood darkened and looked a bit more realistic, and I squished it all around) *Flour (I used this to make the blood clumpy, so I did not use too much and really squished it in there) *Liquid soap (I have no idea what this was used for in some of the recipes I saw, but it did make the "blood" a little runnier and it might have helped with less staining) I mixed and squished it all up in a large bag and started destroying the school girls clothes. I cut rips and holes, took the shirt and pants outside and dragged them threw dirt and rubbed rocks and bricks over them and then applied the blood in splotches all around. I noticed how the "blood" took well with the white shirt, but the dark blue pants did not look as good, but since it would be dark I was hoping it would not affect it too much whch it didn't. I was pleased and so was the director and writer so yaaay lol! |
